Is the master cylinder mounting plate usually left/painted black or is it colour matched to the car?

I thought I would check mine to help you out but I can't tell, it is covered in surface rust.

I am guessing they were not painted body colour from factory, as there is absoultely no sign of blue on mine.

It should be stainless steel & not have a lip on the back edge.... or it should be after you fit a servo & disc brakes :P

Seriously though things such as cylinder mounting plates, horn brackets etc were painted black.

Think about it logically if you had Blue cars on the production line but have run out of blue parts & only have green mounting plates & red horn brackets would Rover have stripped & repainted the parts or stripped & repainted the blue car- & which colour???

Cheers guys I thought it might be, but 34 years of brake/clutch fluid and other crap have made the bracket and that area of the bulkhead exactly the same!

Mine was definitely glossy black (there were some marks of black paint on it)

But... my car was original black too...

The car will be Apple Jack green when painted, but I will keep this bracket black.
