Hi chaps I’ve currently been improving my door gaps In the door opening, I followed a guide on the forum that showed the Door frame being cut and a small piece welded in to improve the gap, I have done this and sure it’s made the door fit the gap perfect, however when I fit the glass it goes up and down Nicely and seals great at the top, my issue is the glass doesn’t go down strait so when it’s open it doesn’t look level 5mm lower on one side which is where metal has been added, of course looking at it now it’s pretty obvious this was going to happen ?‍♂️ It runs up and down lovely with no issues it’s purely aesthetic! But doesn’t look great, I don’t think there’s a lot I can do really, I’ve enlarged the holes in the regulator to try to twist it slightly which has made abit of difference but not a lot, don’t get me wrong it’s not hurendus but I’m extremely picky and it’ll bug me to death!!!,anyway hope this will help and stop anyone else falling into this trap and obviously any advice appreciated greatly.
Thank you Lee

You could try packing the 'low side' of the glass support rail with an alloy firring piece.

Do mean remove the metal runner from the glass and put a Packer under it then re fit ? Sounds like a good idea ?

Yes, a piece of alloy cut in a long thin triangular shape.

R right I see, maybe just packing one side of the runner may be easer and would a do the same I reckon, may be worth a try thank you mate

Wow am I having a nightmare with this issue, spent hours trying to sort it, packing the runner doesn’t work!! At all, so I’ve resorted to modifying the actual regulators them selfs, I’ve got the glass sitting level in the opening with packers, with this fine the regulator is about 10mm off the 4 screws Threads in the door Itself, with it in position elongated the holes in the regulator and screwed it up tight! All seems to be better but still a little Tiny bit off ?‍♂️ Ward of warning to people don’t cut you’re door frames it’s a bad idea!!! And you’ll have the issues I’m having for sure

Just had another thought on this, now I’ve moved the regulators I bet the door cards won’t fit with the winder bit in a slightly different place ?‍♂️

I've electric windows on mine and can't remember what the winders look like or if what I'm suggesting is feasible but could you try moving the the low side arm on the winder round a tooth on the cog.

Chris1275gt Has actually given me an idea maybe I could heat up the arm on the regulator And slightly bend it upwards, looks like they already have a bend in them anyway so give it abit more maybe

Adding or removing metal frame the window should have no effect on the angle at which the windows goes up and down.

It’s more likely that the steel channel on the bottom of the glass has shifted and needs levelling.

Hi the window does go up nice and strait it’s the fact that I’ve cut about 5mm out of the frame that’s the issue, when. I have the window slightly open it doesn’t loot strait cus if the extra metal I've welded in, basically I’m trying to get the window to go up uneaven so it looks better

So the top of of your window frame isn’t parallel with the top of the door skin?

If you start messing with the angle of the glass you’re likely to have issues with the running up and down smoothly as it will effectively become winder the more you rotate it to match the top of the door frame.

Get some pictures up so get a proper idea of what going on.

Ye that’s my issue mate as it does run up and down lovely and seals fine at the top at the moment at the moment it’s just when I slightly open it the glass doesn’t look level, my original problem was the door in the actual opening itself which is completely from the factory and the original door, I sorted this by cutting the frame only one side thow which is my issue ?‍♂️
