We all? would like to buy a superb car with no signs of repair but how scruffy would it have to be in some areas to put you off?The boot in my car was repaired 10 years ago at least by myself when my son owned it.I did not spend much effort prettying it up and it still has no rust.
After removing masking tape today I looked at the dusty mess and thought"put the boot boards back in and cover that up"As the car is Racing green I do not intend to respray it so should I paint it?or leave it with a mix of original paint and green brush paint?
Curious as to some of your views.Steve..

If I was looking for another Mini I don't think a scruffy repair would put me off if it was solid/well done.

I would probably rather see some repairs then to be told the body work is fine but is actually full of newspaer and filler.

Of course if the boot or floor is like a patchwork quilt I might try and get some money off!

As for painting, I can't talk. My car is probably 6 or 7 different shades of Blue...

You dont say are you selling it or not? If its for you and you are happy, leave it alone.

If selling it and it hasnt been painted until now Id be inclined to leave it so the purchaser can see what they are getting. New shiny paint before sale could be a bit suspicious.

I think if you can see a repair and it hasn't been deceitfully hidden then that's fine. Otherwise I would be inclined to think what else is hiding. When ever I have sold a car I always say the bad bits and what I have seen as it's best to be honest. Almost talking myself out of a sale.

Personally I prefer to see the welding on the floor without body sealer all over the place.

If I'm grinding back I usually just denib the welds so they ain't sharp then shutz and paint it

Thanks for your input.I maintained this car as a daily driver for my son who gifted it to me when he had two small children.Due to the world situation I have carried out much more work than was intended and is now being reassembled after a respray. The repairs are old and sound but not concourse by any stretch. If I were to remedy it now would be the time but I think it is a lot of expense that I can do without. The days of cheap repairs are long gone I fear.I intend to keep the car for a while to benefit from the engine and gearbox I paid for shortly before I was given it.
Thanks again,Steve...

Don’t worry about resale. Drive it and enjoy it. If you’re happy with it then sweet! As long as it’s safe and well executed who cares.

If someone intends to buy a car and go down the concourse route, I would imagine that no matter how well hidden your repairs were the car would be getting stripped back and built from the ground up anyway.
