Last couple I have watched have gone for over a grand on ebay and they had bits missing. Suffice to say I wasn’t willing to go that high.

Of course they can ask what they wish, finding someone to pay that price another matter.

£750 seems more reasonable, still a bit of gamble I guess.

Good luck to the seller!

But the bits are not that important now. Fusion fabs make Plenum, you can convert a normal HIFF44 for turbo use, the engine will need rebuilt and that are not much different to a standard 1275

Just what I've been seeing over the past couple of years, I think the days of the sub £1000 1275 engine / gearbox are soon coming to a close, but, there's always be the odd 'bargain' to be had. I thought I'd never see (60's) Cooper S Short Engines going for £2000 but I've heard of some going for well over this number with 'complete' but ready only for reconditioning units going for £5000

Good luck to the seller!

Exactly.

The 'market', supply and demand will sort out the actual selling price.

I thought I’d seen this on another forum but I hadn’t, it was another engine which is up for £3,500.

There was a metro turbo engine with its turbo and manifolds sold on eBay last week for £510, cheapest I’ve seen for a long time.

I do agree with that, how many rare minis were made in to track cars, or traded in as scrap in the 70s/80s that would make a fortune now... if only eh?

There’s a fella near me that things a boggo 998 is worth 600 quid without any ancillaries. It does have a set of clocks that say 45k though so it must be a low mileage unit...
I offered him a fair 200 but his price is firm.

Especially unmolested examples. I feel sick paying more than £250 for short block

I've often wondered what it would take to have new castings of the blocks?

It makes me feel sick how much they have gone up  :X I was going to put a 1275 in my estate but i wont be now.

My mom had a MK2 cooper s when i was a kid and she ended up paying someone to take it away because the head gasket had gone and there was a hole in the floor O_O.
