Hello there I own a 1986 998CC Mini Mayfair and recently it had been sat for six months i come to move, So I start the car depress the clutch straight to the floor I put it in gear and then notice that the clutch pedal returned back up only about an inch or two from the floor and no matter how much I pump the pedal it's not coming up any further than the inch or two but the clutch does operate and I managed to get  it into gear

So I am curious if anyone had this issue before or has any advise to give as I will be thankfully for anything,

Thank you in advance.

I'd say it'll either be the hose to the slave has collapsed internally or the pedal pivot shaft has rusted causing the pedal itself to bind on it.

Given that it comes up a little, I'm more inclined to think it's the hose.

Mine did it when the shaft that it pivots on rusted up. Took it all apart, cleaned it up and greased it.

Am I right if I assume if it's the hose it will need replacing, and say if it pivots would you have to remove the pedal box.

So to update I've bleed the clutch, replaced the slave cylinder and the hose but the pedal is still sat at the same place. So am I right in thinking I need to look at the pedal pivot now, could there be anything else?

I know this may sound stupid but do I need to remove the whole pedal box then.

Mine ('93 Rio) did almost exactly the same after being sat for a while.

The lever had seized at the pivot at the end of the wok. I gave it a thump with a rubber mallet (I think) a few

times and that freed it, then lubricated it to stop it happening again.

Was that while the pedal box was in the car or did you take it then whack it

He's talking about this one (A), on the clutch housing (Wok).

(B) is also worth a look while you're in there.

Particularly, if someone has had an engine steam-cleaned and then put away corrosion can stiffen the movement on these.

When Mini engines were designed, they were, virtually, self-lubricating.

Don't feel stupid, Kirk, for asking and learning, feel proud and determined to keep on learning.

The world is, sadly, full of people who stopped the moment the school gates closed behind them and a few who stopped even before then.

I just know this will end up being something very small that I've overlooked.

I've also replaced the push rod I've just tried looking at points A and B you pointed out to me and i can move it easily by hand I put the video up so I've got no idea I've also checked and there is no air in the slave system.
