Hi folks

I’m re attaching the wiper motor, which the previous owner took off- and I’m unsure where this earth wire goes. The motor works without earthing it with the black cable.

Does it just get attached to the body? There is a stray screw just behind the black cable in the picture?

Thanks

Sorry the picture rotated. The stray screw is actually on that black supporting member in the bay.

The tab gets secured under one of the wiper motor's cover plate screws.

The wiper may work as it will get a fortuitous earth elsewhere, but to be reliable it should be earthed properly with this wire.

Also- does anyone know what this plug is for?

It looks like it comes off the auxiliary fan, however there is no male connector to plug it into. Is this an aftermarket thing which the previous owner didn’t finish?

Thanks

Yes, that looks like the cable to the Aux Fan. There should be a temp sender screwed into the thermostat sandwich plate with a flying lead which plugs into that socket. There should also be a cable clip in the thermostat housing to radiator bracket to clip the cable into.

I’m assuming that this is a 1990/91 car........

Hi both

I can check the colours of the cables tomorrow.

So I replaced the thermostat sandwich plate as the old one had a broken thread. Attached is a picture. The plate I bought was the same as the previous one- I.e. it had the electric sensor hole plugged. Does this mean my aux fan won’t/can’t work?

Here’s a pic of the housing after I fitted it.Attached File  174E8A47-72D0-42B1-8E7F-9D7D15BC76B5.jpeg   58.32K   1 downloads
