Glad to know that you could fix the problem. However, if you used a regular piece of wire it will not provide any protection as the fusible link does. Shop, around and you might find a suitable replacement.

Hi again

Can I ask what gauge of fusible link wire you used? Or what amps rating?

Thanks

David

This is what I used since it seemed to be about the same gauge as the original. Apparently, the general rule for the fusible link gauge is that it should be 4 gauges smaller than the wiring being protected. So, the length and gauge should be the same as the factory installation for the proper protection.

I could not find anything in Minispares or Somerford and Amazon.co.uk had huge sizes and expensive.

Amazon US has one at a more reasonable price that you might be able to get if you can not get something locally:

Excellent!

Thanks for that.  I'll see what I can find.
