Austin Mini, 90's, 1275cc, RHD

What gas should I be running on? I am getting several answers, and I am at the point that I HAVE to put some fuel in (I've had her about a week). I know this sounds like a ridiculously newbie question - and it is. Actually, I researched a lot of things, but not fuel.

I do not think the engine heads have been reworked. So I'm assuming I should be running whatever the engine was designed to run originally.

All help greatly appreciated!

Unleaded or super unleaded, the car will run best on these.

If I use Tesco 99 octane (UK fuel octane rating) the car runs alot better than ordinary supermarket fuel.

You won't need any fuel additives or octane booster

Would it be possible to ask the previous owner what fuel they were using?

Depending on what you have available it may have been tuned to favour a specific type.

I believe that in the USA you have a Premium Unleaded which has an octane rating of around 96. That should be fine, although the Ethanol may be 10% now.

An Unleaded with a MON of 87 or higher would be safe.

Here in the states, I always run premium fuel, if you can find unleaded without ethanol, that's a good thing as the ethanol can attack the rubber parts in the fuel system.
