Hello everyone.

Hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.

I have been thinking about registering my Mini in the Mini Cooper Register.

What do you think about the Mini Cooper Register?

Have you registered your car?

What benefits or advantages do you see in having the car registered here?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you

Hirantha

I have been a member since the MCR first started in 1986.....

The 'Mini Cooper Register' is worth joining for the monthly magazine alone. I always enjoy reading it more than the mainstream Mini magazines.

https://www.minicoop...world-magazine/

Join for a year and if you don't like it don't renew your membership but I think you will. Also caters for non-Cooper Minis and the 1275GT.

Thank you for this.

Yes. I think I'll join. As you said, if it's not for me then I can find another.

Best.

So does my '98 "Cooper branded" Japanese market Mini class as a Mini Cooper?

Probably.....but anyway the MCR welcomes all kinds of Minis not just Coopers, in fact the postponed Beaulieu Mini Day in August has non-Cooper Minis as the main show feature this year (if it goes ahead as planned).

MCR’s National Mini Day at Beaulieu

"The central arena will focus on ordinary minis from the comparatively standard to the rather more radical. The mini scene has always been one of variety and can boast to have more accessories and modifications available from the 60s onward, than probably any other car. The Mini Cooper Register is a club for all mini enthusiasts and this display will demonstrate the sheer range of minis that are owned by members.

Expect to see standard 850s as well as with thoroughly modified examples including commercials, estates and Hornets/Elfs as well as some of the rather better equipped minis of the 21st century.

Around the edge of the arena will be displays of each register within the MCR, with two of each car from MK1 Coopers to Modern Minis. Registrars and owners will be in attendance to answer any questions."

You also get discounts at Mini Sport and Mini Spares (and others) as part of the membership...I think the Mini Spares discount level is the same as the TMFs one though.

I am an MCR member too, the monthly mag is a good read!

I have been a member since late 80’s always been a source of good info, the magazine is good. I have never been an active member with meetings etc, and only been to a couple of shows, but the club can also help with valuations etc, they used to have a good forum, but it got changed and basically was a disaster and most stopped using it, shame really.

I've been a member some years...as others have said the mag can be a very good source of info, discounts at the main mini spares companies, been to a few MCR organised events as well.

One the subject of the forum...it can't compete with TMF!! Just become a.member of both ?

It's well worth it.  I was a member in the late 80s, then dropped out of mini ownership until 5 years ago.  Rejoined.  Been on several trips organised by the MCR.  Never thought I'd be driving my 50 year old S through boiling hot France in July but I did with the MCR - twice!.  Loved every minute of it.  Beaulieu is always a must if you are in the south of the UK.  For £35 a year, it's well worth it.  Excellent magazine, caters for all minis.  The forum used to be very good source but I do not go on there now.

The MCR Forum crashed losing all it's past history which was not backed up a few years back and it never recovered. Also I think the MCR Facebook pages finally killed off the forum sadly but as said we still have the TMF Forum!

I wanted to know the same about my car - V5 says its a Rover Cooper.

So I wrote to MCR giving my registration and the chassis number. They had the details that confirmed the V5 and a bit more detail.

After suggestion by mab01uk I am thinking of becoming a member myself.

Around about 1980 (ish) I joined what I seem to remember was the "Mini Cooper Club" ... is there any relation between that club and the Mini Cooper Register? The logos are certainly similar! I've searched online to see what ever happened to the Mini Cooper Club but can find nothing.

I seem to remember the Mini Cooper register was formed after a divide in the Mini Cooper club, but been so long ago I may be wrong.

I know when I had my cooper the register was the one I was recommended to join although meetings are no longer active around me and not having my car on the road for 20 years I haven’t been to many shows, always remained a member though. Get a little discount on insurance as well
