Put a self tapper in it, but be very careful to keep away from the bore in the diff cap, it doesn't nee much of a scratch at all to leak from that.

Thanks but wouldn't I need a hole to start a self tapper?

Yes, just drill a small hole in it.
There is (or should be) a steel insert in the seal.

Yes, just drill a small hole in it.
There is (or should be) a steel insert in the seal.
That's where the issue is: I can't drill into it, even for a small hole.
