When you say cut out, do you mean instantly or spluttered and died?

going to need more information to be able to help. Right to check the basics, fuel and spark.

The one relay on the bulkhead could have tripped out, these are the 2 black square box things on the bulkhead on the right as you look into the engine bay (Technical term - box things by the way)
If it started and moved a few feet, that's a start !

Will it be obvious how to reset it when I open the boxes?

Did you disconnect the battery? Did you drop/lose any tools while doing the servicing particularly in the starter area? Did anything break or accidentally came off during the servicing? Did you wash the engine? Did you ensure to reconnect back everything in the right places? Just to start.

To be honest I was thinking about running/starting issues I have come across in the past, not Mini ones in particular.
Thought it was worth the suggestion since there isn't a lot of info to go on.

It’s fine. We just want posters to post as much as possible about the problem so we can be much more specific about the help.
Its why I am being a little bit flip to encourage to OP to tell us what they can as literally at this stage the problem is too wide.
Didn't mean to offend - we are all all trying to help one another.
I have a special interest in fuel injection cars

I then left the car for a few hours came back to it to go to the shop and it started I drove it out the garage and it spluttured a little and then died. I tried to start it again with no luck. Fuel is be injected into the bit below the air filter, I'm going to test for a spark tomorrow, but I cant see how I lost it if that is the case.
