So tomorrow I find out the terms of my redundancy. They will be closing the office for our area. There will be other jobs but as I was looking at returning to the UK in about 1.5 years it looks like it is happening early.

and I still don’t have an engine to put in the car..........

Not good news then Nick.

We have had a massive shake up and were all on the at risk list but last week we have all been told we now have positions although at another Airport. Not ideal but a job is a job.

what was odd is that they applied for and got "short time work"  (uk speak  furlough) for 12 months  so with no cost to them they could have kept the office open........

but it has just made me do what i was going to do in a few years happen now. luckily for me the Rents have a place for me (not that they know yet) and a garage that i can dump some stuff.

the main plus is that it will mean all my rental contract run out before or on the end of December. if they did not things could have got messy.

Yeah, It's a nightmare ATM when it comes to employment. I'm still on furlough, and just hoping I have a job to go back too. I don't fancy being made redundant, especially with LOTS of other people going through the same situation. I do believe we'll end up in another recession if this goes on for much longer.  >_<  :tumble:

My company has been on a hiring kick which is not the norm now. If anything this current mess has made us work harder and longer and made our robotic products more in demand than ever before.
I do sense a deeper recession coming on in the next few months just by studying the trends and looking at our work load for the future. If I am in more demand it means people are in less demand.

Sorry to hear that Nick, I had a call from work to say that there are going to be some jobs lost but my position is safe (luckily for me I'm the only person in that department So kept it by default) im due to return on Monday.

Cheers,

unlikely but as if there was i could have most likely done another office transfer.

it was mainly CAD work supporting suppliers to Certain auto producers using specific CAD programs. not many other use them but i know of a few. most of the time working with global teams on global projects. and i know there will be people on here that are driving around in cars that have parts or features that i have been responsible for.

But again i have not just done that i have done many other jobs and can do much.

The most annoying things are I now don’t need a Cat. And I could have gone for the +40s rather than playing with the +20s

Well a year after being notified that I was going to be unemployed I now find myself starting a new one on Wednesday.

still waiting for the contract but have had to sign a pile of papers as an employee.

it’s going to be electric.
