We were given a free smart lcd tv as the picture was showing vertical lines. I had repaired our old tv with new resistors about 10 years ago and still going strong now so i thought it could be similar. I have found the issue with this new one, a ribbon on the tcon board has come off the board. Does anyone know how to reattach this? Is There a glue off some sort?

Should look like this

Faulty one...

I think it won't as it's conductive so would short all the connectors together.

On closer inspection that looks like mission impossible.

You can re-attach the cable using an anistropic conductive adhesive tape & some specialist expensive equipment to apply the correct pressure, temperature, & duration to cure it.

It's the preferred (ie cheap & quick) method of cable attachment for TV manufacturers & TV repair specialist will merely replace the whole screen/cable unit.

Oh poop!    -I only started researching this as i've got the same problem on my old TV which i prefer to my new expensive one.

Hang on lads -i've got a great idea

(so don't ditch it yet, i will get back to you after a bit more research later on today).

A few hours has somehow turned into 3 days.... & i've failed :(    (mine's gone at both the pcb AND screen end so it's definitely BER).

On the PCB end i thought there might have been a heat-resistant board edge clip for some application or other that could be used to physically hold the cable down onto the contacts but i've failed to find anything yet.
