Not new to minis having a deseamed 1071 s shed 44 years ago which I wrote off on a sprint at Oultan park , druids corner driving beyond my and the cars capability.

Reshelled it into a mk 1 mini which had been abandoned on the motorway after the engine expired. How simple minis were then! I am amazed how more complex the mpi is and how much more kit is contained.

How can acar built in 1997 rust more than one built in 1964, however it has, many panels have been replaced, it been a mammoth task, still a long way away.

The Mpi is extremely prone to tinworm, unfortunately. My '98 was better than most but it still took all new exterior panels with the exception of the bonnet and the roof (and it had a small patch in the OSR corner that was caught just in time!). A couple of pictures to give you an idea.
