My new to me 1988 restored Mini has a dual clock panel with the Japanese assembly module. the Temp gauge appears to be reading low, never gets much off the blue mark. I've tested the connections by shorting the sender wire at the head to ground and the gauge goes full hot position. While driving it does move off well below blue ( ign off & at startup) to just above the blue mark after hard driving in moderate temps.

Today I was looking closely at the gauge and from what it looks like, the markings and H & C lettering appear shifted up in the clock opening, such that the indicator needle would need to move higher by about 1 mark to be on the mid point when car fully warmed up.. So is it possible the gauge works fine but just doesn't have a properly positioned scale card?
