Got a problem, my cone compression tool will not thread into one of my cones. What are my options on getting the cones compressed or out?

Sounds silly but is the thread completely stripped, or will it just not engage? Have you tried both metric and imperial tools?

If it is truly foo barred you need to slide the top arm out... ie the Pin that goes through the top arm.. this allows the top arm to be removed and then the cone will come out

I just installed these cone a year ago using the same tool and I don't remember stripping anything out. I've even tried running a tap through the cone and it didn't feel stripped at all. But, the tool will just not catch. It worked fine on the opposite side. I didn't even think about dissembling the top arm pin. I'll have to look into that.

one of the new cones I had fitted recently has a little excess rubber covering the threaded insert so I found it had to apply some pressure for it to catch the thread - once it caught it went in easy enough
