About the very simplest check you can do to the carb is is take the piston out, wick a couple of CCs of oil out with a little roll of bog roll and replace with 20W50.  Might not help but it's a simple check to find if your carb needs heavier oil.

When you say the piston isn't sticking did you run your finger around inside the pot to check for any light vertical scoring.

I will take another look! Cheers

Hi Chris1275GT, I have checked the piston and it looks in great shape with nothing to note in terms of scoring.

Check rotor arm, distributor cap, HT leads and plugs and, possibly, coil.

The demand on HT is greatest when you accelerate.
