Best Answer Tupers , 01 July 2020 - 05:36 PM

They’re not compatible the 2 spoke mini wheel has a 70MM centre and the 3 spoke clubman wheel has a 54mm centre. Go to the full post

Does anyone know if the steering centre pictured will fit in the Clubman/GT steering wheel?

Cheers, Paul

From memory I think the "Mini" centre's too big, but someone with more knowledge will be able to confirm this.

Thanks.

Looks like a change of plan is required!

There was a "MINI" one that did fit the clubby wheel that was similar to this. You'd have to try and find a used one, or you can get a NOS blank one

Also Clubman:

I finally got my hands on the steering wheel I wanted. Came with the correct 'MINI' centre as well which was a bonus.

Unfortunately there were a few of the typical issues - the spokes were cracked, the leather and stitching was torn, the aluminium strips were dented and when I removed the centre it left behind the clip and the paint.

First off I repaired the centre - i had to repaint some of the letters first using Humbrol paints.

Masked

Finished

Then the cracks

Cut grooves with a small Dremel cutting wheel to the bottom of the cracks then filled with Araldite - used masking tape as 'form work'. I put on way to much Araldite so had more work to do on the next stage.

Filed then wet & dry

Painted. I used a Duplicolor plastic primer first but it did not bite, just ran straight off. So had to wait for that to harden before wet & dry again then used normal Duplicolor grey primer - a much better result.

Fitted (without the leather for now)
