I have come to re-assemble my servo now it has a nice fresh paint job using the repair kit from Minispares.

Unfortunately I cannot find the photo's a took when I disassembled it some time ago!

I think I can remember / work out how it goes together but wanted to see if anybody could confirm or correct me!

So I think the rubber washer goes in this way up (solid side facing to the inside) followed by the plastic washer then the large serrated washer to keep them all in place....

Clearly the thin end of the spring then sits inside against the washer and the large plastic plunger then drops into it, but do I have the rubber the right way up and in the right place?

I then think the small metal plunger drops into the top of the large plastic plunger, but first the small rubber bung drops in and it sits up against it, I then assume the small serrate washer drops in to hold that in place? so in this order....

And it fits in here as such...

Then it's a matter or forcing the whole thing together with the front part and twisting it to lock tight (I'm guessing this will be hard!).

Then once assembled the rod that connects to the brake pedal slides in from the back and just slides into the open end of the large plastic plunger like this... I'm not sure why the bottom end has slot in it, seems to serve no purpose?

I can't confirm the order but yes it is a pain to put back together. The last time I did it I made a tool. Without it there was no way I could twist the 2 halves together. This post shows the tool.

OK so more research done, I have it back to front, rubber seal and spring the wrong way around on the plunger and the plunger runs the other way, I'm going to need to make a tool to close it though!

Hello

1993 L reg SPI Cooper

I am taking almost everything apart (that's how it feels anyway)

Opportunistically

I'm replacing the brake master cylinder and the bushes in the top engine steady (while I'm there)

I've also taken the servo and the frame thing out to clean it all up, including the exposed bulkhead

Then I thought I'd order a servo repair kit

Opportunistically, it makes sense to open it up and replace the perishables while I'm here

I managed to separate the two halves of the metal servo unit

I was quite pleased with myself

It didn't last long

I've now got the obvious, easy things off and out

All two of them

I'm left with the parts in the attached photos, but I don't know and google isn't telling me how to take this lot apart

Can you lovely people help?

Rubber seal trapped / held between two plastic things

Do they pull apart, unscrew, is there a thing to push / prod?

Thanks in advance

Is it the large rubber diaphragm that you're struggling to release or is it the smaller seal inside where the plunger lives? there are a couple of seals, one very small inside the "tube" of the large plastic part in your photo and one in the exit of the rear half of the metal servo housing itself, both are held in with a star shaped washer as per my photo's above

This you can ping out with a small screwdriver.

I hope you took a lot of photos on the way out, I couldn't make sense of it when I came to put it back together, as simple as it seemed to be!

Also, are you referring the servo housing? if so I'd probably paint it rather than powder coat if I did it again, powder coat is great but it's thick and makes it double hard to get the two halves back together again, this you will have fun with!

And I have a question for you, did you find this part in there somewhere, and if so where was it?

Thanks

Yes, I found that piece

It slots into the inner plastic trumpet shaped thing to hold the central thing with the spring and air filter on it in place

Lots of "things", sorry

I took lots of photos and a few videos on my phone as I know it's going to be tricky putting it back together

That's for later today

Expecting the air to turn very blue
