The police are having a heyday with drivers released from lockdown driving recklessly.

A report from one member or our local Safer Roads team, (part of Northants Police), stated :-

Spent the last 2.5hrs of my shift enforcing on the A43 with an unbelievable amount of avoidable offences detected. 128 speeding cars, 53 speeding goods vehicles, 8 No seatbelt, 8 cars were clocked in excess of 100mph, highest of 126mph!

IME the roads were more dangerous during lockdown, I encountered a lot of crazy driving during the first month. Daft overtaking, silly speeds and general lack of consideration for other drivers. Although it’s busier now, I feel much safer, both as a driver and a pedestrian.

Have seen it in central London since lockdown started and it's continuing. I cycle daily to/from work directly through central London and hearing any vehicle thundering up the road behind you on a fairly empty central London road is intimidating at present...thinking to yourself {I hope they are looking at the road and not their 'phone}. So I can only imagine what some traffic is like on main A and B roads outside of towns and cities at the moment.

I loved it in April and early May!

Cars driving on the left on dual carriageways and motorways. It was like being back in the '70s.

No doubt in my mind people were more considerate of others (excepting over bog rolls 'n pasta) when we went in to lockdown. It hasn't lasted long  :(
