Dealt with. My fault as it was posted originally in FAQ's and i moved it to Electrical in FAQ's by mistake. Its now in in problems questions and technical where it should be.

Cheers. Yep it was in the forum FAQs bit first.

i still find the FAQs section strange as in once in there that’s it. Dead.

I would be nice to have them alive so that they can be added to. But not have anyone able to start a new topic in the FAQs  but that is for another day.

Isn't it safer to have them not editable? Then you know what you're referring to if you mention one in another topic. They can still have amendments, even full on replacements, suggested & recommended from elsewhere.

I tend to view stuff in FAQ are generally more of a Statement than a Question, a bit like a Workshop Manual.

Never said anything about editable.  But is can be that a topic in an FAQ may no5 have run its course or new info comes....

on a slightly different slant in the tech problems etc section (I forget the proper name) 5here is a locked pinned thread called 1380. Why? It is not. it is just confusing.

Yes but often they were originally posted as questions.

a FAQ should be an informative post by someone who knows their stuff and no discussion. Taking a discussion and making it a FAQ is rather poor as often there is alternative info in the original discussion,

Isn't adding to a thread a form of editing?

Think we're all broadly on the same hymn sheet.

How about using the "best answer" feature? If after reading FAQ, you still wanted clarification the obvious thing would be to ask there: the "greenie" would make the default or approved answer stand out. Alternatively, we could create a discussion topic for each FAQ, with a hyperlink from the "master".

I do have it in mind to put a proposal to the other mods to move these over to FAQ or add them in to other similar thread over there, as well (when I get time !) go through and clean up FAQ to (hopefully) make it an easy reference / resource / encyclopedia section. These for now are only my own ideas not not that of the management.
