Hello chapsters,

I've fitted a new electronic ignition now and taken a test drive. It was in effort to try and fix an issue I'm having where when accelerating experiencing what feels like the engine missing and wanting to cut out (but only happening after been driving and the engine warm). Also just set the timing but after test drive turned engine off to pre ignition.

I think my vacuum pipe and seals are a bit loose and not making a full vacuum. But I ask: could this be causing pre ignition and what I'm describing of the engine missing and wanting to cut out when accelerating after having driven for a long time?

or does it sound like an issue coming from somewhere else

my lovelyest regards

Timing and dizzy position will be different when changing from points to electronic.

Could be the coil breaking down when hot, so what to do is change the coil for a known working unit.

Hey cal - did adjust timing after converting distributor! Forgot to mention, thanks for the pointer.

If you have Vacuum Leaks, yes, it can cause poor performance, missing and running on.

My vacuum advance pipe was burst a few weeks ago, and it was causing the car to idle rough (7/800RPM) just above the stall. have you noticed a difference in idle speed? this could be a clue.

Normally, it is the rubber elbows that deteriorate, not normally the hard plastic line.

Check the rubber elbows carefully both end, they have a tendency to split.
