Only yesterday I made a spacer block for the thermostat cover and incorporated a separate sender in that. If I remember today, I'll snap off a couple of photos.

Cheers for that. I did make a bit of an error with it, in that the sender is a bit close to the hose, but it all fits.

The top bracket is a custom one, infact, the whole radiator shroud is.

Would you make me one with a 5/8ths temp sender  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  (original sender) as I want to convert from three clock to a centre and I have an SPI so no tapped or drilled hole

The head on this engine is from an MPI, which don't have a sender hole. I drill & tap these before fitting to take the standard sender. I will be using the hole that I've put in the head for the Temp Gauge, and the other is for an ECU.

I'll drop you a PM.

another question. the s/c wire that goes to the crank position sensor is a bit too short to reach so i thought i'd extend the wires by about 10cms. but when i cut the new loom i discovered the wires are shielded, is it critical to replace such a short length with shielded cable or ordinary cable do?

I would have thought if it's shielded there is a reason for it so the extension should be or stray signals might get through.

This is my variation on the thermostat sandwich. The engine is an MPi block and head with a side mounted radiator, similar to the later JDM SPi versions.

The thermostat elbow is the JDM SPi version with the unique short hose.

One sensor is for the gauge and the other for the SC Delta ECU.

On this engine, the top bracket is a standard shaped piece with standoffs underneath to bring it to the height of the sandwich plate.

The sandwich is drilled for NPT with the appropriate adapter for each sensor.

Here is another configuration we are using with a custom top bracket.

The other picture shows the routing of the crank sensor wire and other loom components on that side of the engine. The connector is behind/under the loom.
