Hi,

I need to replace the diff side cover bush.

I've found loads of details on the tolerance etc but nothing about the alignment of the hole in the bush with the slots in the housing.

The ones I'm taking out don't line up with the slots and every photo I can find shows it not aligned. But, the one video on Youtube shows the hole aligned to the slot.

Is there a correct or prefered way or doesn't it matter?

Just seams strange to have a hole and then not align it unless the bush is a generic part.

Thanks.

I thought this when I was doing mine, But I've rebored 10 -15 of them and all of them have had the hole not lined up with a slot.

I align the Hole with one of the slots when I do them, though, it shouldn't make that much difference.

The Oil Level comes a little less than half way up them when fitted.

Thanks.

It seems logical to align with a slot otherwise why have a hole, so I'll go with aligning it.

All done now and oil hole aligned.

I found an old chuck backplate lying around and machined it to take the sideplate.

Popped in new bearings, bolted to backplate and bored to size.
