Not a lot of benefit apart from looking cool then

I think I’ll still get and fit a set though Go to the full post

Looking around for a set, lots of different types - aud69 ,aud327 etc listing for mini and mg etc what would be the best type to buy for a std 998

Isn't the only difference the angle of the floatbowl? I think mine were Midget ones, then I just changed the coloured insert that sets the angle to the Mini type.

I think I have found a set at a reasonable price

I am running std exhaust, manifold and pea shooter exhaust

What exhaust manifold will work (obviously 3 branch) but what options do I have or do I change whole exhaust

The Maniflow freeflow manifold and their twin box exhaust is a good choice. But exhaust etc is personal choice. The RC40 is very popular and works well.

For a 998 the Maniflow 3-into-1 manifold with a single box is fine. Pipe diameter should be 1.625" diameter, as the original Mini Cooper 998.

On the subject ot twin carbs, my personal feeling is that a pair of HS2's on a 998 with a well-flowed head and a good exhaust will be more efficient than a single 1.5" carb. The inlet manifold for the twins needs to be cleaned up with the internal steps and sharp edges removed. I can't quantify the advantage, but better mid-range seems likely as well as more top-end power. Two individual chokes feeding two inlet tracts seems logical, but the original BMC inlet manifold might be the weak link. There are better inlet manifolds for twins, or the BMC one can be improved considerably. I found an old 'Torquemaster' alloy inlet manifold recently with a pair of H4's in need of rebuilding on it. I might fit this to my 1990 Cooper 1330 road-rally car which currently has an HIF44.

Just bought these

https://www.ebay.co....tm/293684529363

Another project to keep me busy

They’ll take a bit of work but a lot cheaper than a new set and more of a challenge,
it’s nice to buy new bits but more satisfying to refurb old parts and refit

All twin carb experts get ready for the questions

You'll need to get a mini manifold / heat shield and the 30° float camber washers then you're good to go..
