Are they any good?
I want to put my new set up over to electronic ignition, rather than buy just a kit for my original dizzy I thought about replacing the whole unit.
60 odd quids on evilbay gets a new powespark electric ignition dizzy
Anybody running one? Any good or is it best to just convert my lucas?

They are OK.

One thing i would say is that it is a good idea to take a quick look inside. I have sometimes found a washer or similar inside. This was a while ago and they have have got better QC.

For road use they work well. For tuned applications I have found they a little inconsistent.

As good as any of the similar priced models though and obviously huge range.

I've used a couple of them with great success and will be fitting one on the mini i have now. So much better than messing with points.

Have been using one on a 68 MG for a few years with no problems. (Now that's tempting fate...). I found the technical advice and communication good if you have any queries.

I bought the whole kit for my 998 auto. Cant say noticed any difference in performance or mpg, coil failed after about 5kmiles. Also the car started easier on points.

I had an old distributor recurved to suit my spec, don’t really trust the consistency of curves on repro ones, an incorrect curve can cause damage, I had an exhaust valve burn out on an old engine build due to incorrect advance, if I had to choose a modern one would use a swiftune electronic one.

About 8 years back, I bought a 'stock' type from them for a standard 1098 engine and found the curve a fair way from where it was supposed to be.

I seem to recall a while back, there was another thread about these or someone posted in a thread where they had issues.

Their Electronic Modules seem quite good and very fairly priced. They also seem to have a good range of Ignition products, but I'm just a little unsure on the curves of the distributors.

Personally I'd buy a second hand electronic dizzy and get it totally overhauled and recurved to suit the spec of engine by AC Dodd (or others who provide the service)

My Powerspark was way out, it seemed like a bargain, but would not run right.

Thanks to recommendations on here, I sent it to H & H, I gave them my engine spec and they reprogrammed it, replaced some of the cheap Chinese internals and sent it back it was perfect.

That old adage, you get what you pay for was right on this occasion.
