My car only has a window in the passenger side inner wing,needs several extensions helped by the servo(not)..Have fun,Steve..

That could be a topic in itself, there are some decent ones though and all of 'em are a useful reference for discussing the do's & dont's of a job.

 

Whipping the grille off can be useful to get line of sight & a "shelf" for an open ended spanner. Can depend on the last punter leaving the nut at an opportune angle, but certainly one to think about if you're likely to be the punter following this time.

 

Good point. I will leave things as accessible and user friendly for myself for the next time I'm in the area.

Just replaced callipers, flexi hoses and rubber cones on my '87. Cut through old hose with junior hacksaw then got a ring spanner on hose connections. Flat ring spanner or if you can move the clutch arm enough, a 1/4 drive socket and extension to remove off-side banjo bolt on the three-way union; check the banjo bolt length if replacing hoses, the replacement hose connection was not as deep as original and the banjo bolt bottomed out - I cut two or three threads off the bolt. Near-side union accessed through the window in the inner wing, again check connector length to ensure it doesn't bottom out before fully tight. The 15/16 nut on subframe was removed with socket and extensions on near-side, ring spanner on off-side. With the subframe end of brake hose disconnected and moving brake pipes to one side gives more clearance for removing top suspension arm bolt if replacing rubber cones.

Front rubber hoses replaced with Goodridge braided hoses

I had to sacrifice some original pipe and nuts

Hacksaw and grinder / cutting disc fitted

Salvaging what was there just wasn't an option as many / most of you advised would be the case

New copper brake line from front left to right thanks to minispares and their pre-made-up, great-priced parts

Callipers back on

New pads, clips and split pins in

It's been great
