hello all this is my first time on a forum and I am looking for some much needed advise.
My dad past away 7 years ago and left my sister and me with his mini engine, V5 and parts.
We do not know anything about cars and we are looking to sell it either to someone that can try and restore it or at least knows what to do with it.
I have pictures of all the bits so I was just looking to see what sort of price it would all go for?
Any help would be great thanks.

Without detailed photos it’s hard to give you an estimate. So please post as many photos as poss, and details about exact model and history of any mods if known.

If you don’t know how to upload photos, use this site and copy and paste the links

There´s a few Cooper spec parts in there. You can clean up the engine number plate with a rag and put the engine number in a decoder like the one from Guessworks (http://guessworks.co...Tech/engine.htm) which will tell you something about the type of engine you've got there. Looks like a good hoard of parts. You can also try the Mk1 forum (www.mk1-forum.net) where there are some very knowlegable folks who know earlier cars inside out.

I'm sorry for your loss, Unfortunately what you have is a collection of parts, without the body shell to go with the registration document there is no 'car' to sell or restore. You're not legally allowed to sell the V5. Technically the V5 needs updating as scraped and notify the DVLA that the car no longer existing.

On plus side your dad had good taste as these look to be mostly early Mk1/Mk2 parts (inline with a '67 on the log book). The steering column is correct for an early car and the front subframe is pre '76 'twin-bolt. Looks like hydro suspension with disk brakes so that narrows it down further. The engine number will tell us more as I do not recognise the 5 digit engine number on your V5.

A lot of those parts are worth serious money, I would take some time to sort through, and gather info before selling anything, PM me if you like, I'm Essex based and wouldn't mind helping you out

A 1967 Mini Cooper in bits plus the V5 would make a nice project for a buyer to use a new BMH Mk1 bodyshell which would be a perfectly legal car to build and worth a fair bit of money when finished, or it could be useful to an Historic Mini race car builder. It would therefore be a bit mad to send it back to the DVLA to register as scrapped.

I would suggest you sell the V5 and parts as a package for a buyer wanting to do that. Until quite recently it was not possible to buy a brand new Mk1 Bodyshell so this was not a viable option and as said using a secondhand shell was not really legal and using a later Mark 3/4 onwards BMH bodyshell was not authentic enough to be worth doing. If your V5 turned out to be an early Mk2 then a Mk1 bodyshell is possible to modify to Mk2 but BMH are currently working on producing a Mk2 Bodyshell very soon.

BMH Mini Bodyshells:-

HMP441050 Mini MkI (1959-1967) £12,547.50

I would also suggest you join the Mk1 forum below for advice where there are some members who know earlier cars inside out and you would probably find some keen buyers for what you have without the hassle of advertising on ebay, etc.
