Hi all, new to the forum and hoping someone might be able to help.

I've a Mini Pickup I'm trying to finish up, it's got a problem with the starter / ring gear it's fitted with.  When I start the car it's not making the right noises at the starter / flywheel, but it does start and run fine.  It's just not right when starting.

The car is fitted with a 1275 engine and I was told an updated ring gear (not sure what).  Taking the starter out there's no damage and it flicks out and spins when energised.  The ring gear has some marks but no chips or teeth missing.

The starter has 9 teeth if that helps and the ring gear 129 if I counted correctly.  Here's the notes I took down from the starter today (see image attached).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,  Stuart

So per engage starter which should have 11 teeth to work with a 129 tooth Verto set up.

Thanks.  You mean pre engaged starter?

My starter looks like this https://www.minispar...|Back to search but is 9 teeth, can the cog on the starter be changed to 11 teeth then?  Or do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks - Stuart
