Hey,

a question that’s been asked a million times I can see but with umpteen permutations too!

1st - the blue mini on the banners arches - what are those?

2nd - I want the go-kart look with my mini and I’m starting from scratch, it’s in the body shop right now being worked on. I want 10” wheels and as wide as I can get them. I like these at 10x7. Will the arches mentioned previously be “too big”? Would I need spacers. They have a bit of offset. Would I need to cut the arches at all?

thanks

Spacers no. Cutting metal yes. Miglia arches. Trim to width.

Thanks. The rims I like are specialist components D5 split rims. Look lovely.

I would advise sticking with 6x10 rims with plenty of offset as a maximum for use with 165 road tyres.

Some examples in link here:-

The Mini Miglia race tyres are:-
Tyres: Dunlop 160/490 x 10” slicks (dries) or treaded (wets)
Wheels: Any 10” diameter x maximum 7” rims

Photo below of my late brother Steve Bell's Miglia on Dunlop 10" slicks.

The problem with 7" wheels is that there are no 10" road-legal tyres to fit a rim of over 6" width. 7" wheels are used for track-only racing slicks.

In fact, a 165/70 x 10 tyre on a 5,5" or 6" rim will give excellent road-holding and good handling with the suspension settings optimised.

Wheel arch extensions should be chosen to cover the selected wheels, not the other way around. You will probably find that the arches sold as 'Group 2', which come in 1.5" and 2.5" widths, will work well with 5.5" or 6" rims and the advantage is that they do look very good with the chrome arch trims carried over the extensions. You may need to slightly modify the wing lip right at the front of the wings, but you won't really need to cut the arch except to thin the newly re-shaped lip a bit with an angle grinder.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that, it’s good to know.

I don’t like the group 2 arches and don’t want chrome trim.

after having a good search for tyres to fit 10x7 I quickly realised it wasn’t really an option!
