Hi I need new metal pressed yellow, white number plates but I’m not too happy about sending log book and driving license (originals)through the post to a number plate maker,am I being silly, paranoid or both.
You hear about all these scams and people trying to get information about you but if you want x2 number plates you got to send them and be happy about it.
Does anyone know of any other way local people to me only do plastic plates which I don’t want any tips greatly received

If using a reputable manufacturer you can be assured they are licensed and governed to comply with all GDPR rules etc. and your personal data will be safe.

Going through some faceless/nameless ebay supplier, I wouldn’t be as confident!

Reputable companies are more likely to allow scanned copies of the documents via email ...

I used a company in Dublin when I last needed plates. No documentation required then.

Yes, that’s a workaround, as they aren’t covered by U.K. law makes a mockery of the so called system, as anyone can order plates for any vehicle from “abroad”.

I got mine on the Channel Islands. I didn't see the benefit of having someone else's postcode on my plates. Perfectly legal.

It's our p****poor politicians who create badly framed laws who make the mockery.

I'm happy to treat them in a "limited and specific way".

Another vote for Tippers.  Didn't require original documents, just a emailed copy.

Agree with a lot of above. I got mine from Tippers.

If I remember I emailed photo of logbook.

They are really good.

I've had plates for my mini and a few motorbikes from these guys - http://www.framptonsplates.com/ they send them out and you just send a scan image of logbook. If the plate types dont match the year (silver etc) they comment on the invoice "for show use only"
