Hehehehe,,,,,,,

Best I can see, these are (Chinese) Moke International Mokes. They set up an assembly plant in Florida (US) where they make the electric versions for the US Market (and they apparently have a high US Local content). It appears from what's written here, they have also now set up an assembly plant in France where they are doing petrol versions. Both types have been available for a few years now ex-China and if I recall, they have a diesel version and an Auto Version.

I know they don't quite look like the Classic Moke, these are a big longer and a bit wider (I've always felt a Moke could have been 2 - 3 " wider), I tend to look upon these in a similar light as the MINI in that they are the next evolution of the Moke, granted, not to everyone's taste, but then again, neither was the 13" Wheeled Aussie Moke either.

I must admit, I would be keen to get a hold of a body shell, maybe a rolling version and 4WD it.

Minisport were importing them in kit form some years ago. They seemed to stop about the time of IVA - very much doubt they'd meet the regs as they look in those photos. But that'd be true in France & the US too I expect.

Actually,,,,, they were a different one again, different company (and still in business), also from China. These were much closer to original classic Mokes, still had an A Series Engine (though I think in later years, there was an option for a different one). We had a guy up on the Gold Coast in Queensland selling these for a few years. These are the Mokes that, due to their origins, gained the nik-name of Choke.

Yes, they were offered with varying amounts of Mini running gear for use with a donor. There some unMini-like underpinnings visible in those photos, along with plenty of sharp looking edges & exposed fasteners for an IVA tester.

Nothing that couldn't be fettled though.

Forgot I had this,,,

,,,, along with plenty of sharp looking edges & exposed fasteners for an IVA tester.

Here in Aust, we have the ADRs (Australain Design Rules) just to make our cars that are sold here, just a little different to those elsewhere in the world and to make them considerably more expensive due to our comparative low numbers, though I think in more recent years, they are in some aspects aligning with the EU Rules.

These ADRs have been gradually introduced since 1971 and each one covers a particular design aspect f the vehicle, which are then included on our Compliance Plates as fitted by the Manufacturer, though I haven't looked on more modern cars to see if these are still being fitted or if it's all just off the VIN Code.

It was these ADRs that killed local production of our Moke here. For a good many years it was able to dodge around them as it's classed as a light truck (Commercial Vehicle) and so for a long while were exempt from many ADRs, but the writing was on the wall,,,,,

But mate, you mention sharp edges and exposed fasteners etc that would be to a Tester / Examiner's delight - oh come on, every Moke has well developed crash padding, safety rounded switches, fittings, pedestrian collision protection, air bags and locking lap seat belts,,, :P   :D :D :D   Safest Vehicle on the road and one I'm sure every other make uses as a model, it is after all THE only vehicle that's been tested in the UK's Crash Lab that could be pushed away on it's own wheels following the test, these tests date back to just after WWII  :D

Just check out the safety features;-

Even the passenger's seat was an Option !

Sorry to drag this a bit off topic, but this reminds me of a 'Jam' that Leyland Australia made for themselves with one of the glossy sales brochures that they distributed, that in one of the pages they stated;-

Needless to say that this caused a bit of an issue when some of our Club Members took their new Mokes back to the dealer claiming warranty on what they broke on the most recent trip.

I don't suppose they had a 5000 mile trip through the outback in mind when they wrote that brochure!

It looks like we are set to get these New Mokes here.

I've found they have been approved for import - Approval A63/00, though a little pricey at $35k + taxes.

I'd say not, though much of the Testing of the Big Wheel Mokes when in development, was done on one of our biggest Cattle Stations - the same one that Donald Campbell based himself at when attempting his land speed records on Lake Eyre.
