Cooper 1275 Cast Down Pipes

Best Answer unburntfuelinthemorning , 28 September 2020 - 08:53 PM

I have the Metro LCB type manifold on my 998.  It may not be the ultimate but it works fine.

I`m currently running a free flow manifold which is wearing thin and looking for a quiet small bore LCB.

Will a 1275 carburetor Cooper cast iron manifold and steel down pipes fit a 998 Mini?

I`ve been told the down pipe length is the same on Maniflow manifolds despite the 1275 block being 3/8 taller.

Cooper free flow is one of the best manifolds for a road going 998 mini. I used it on my 1275 as well

I can't see why not, though it will hang down lower under the car by that 3/8". The HLE Metro used a similar manifold. These are a bit on the bulky side though behind the engine and I think there's better options.

Thanks, that`s exactly what I needed to know.

Not really compared to a stainless steel equivalent.

Have a look for a second hand one in a job lot?

New on Minispares.com is £80.34 including VAT but you'll need delivery on top.

Significantly more expensive buying direct from maniflow..

Of course, expensive is relative to your personal circumstances, I brought mine secondhand 4 years ago for £25, but I haven't seen any for sale recently - unless someone here's looking to sell?

Vizard says the cast manifold works well and the complete steel downpipes are about £30 from Minispares - which makes sense as I`ve already got the cast manifold.

Spot on - are you using the larger bore Maniflow downpipes or standard Cooper?
