Do I need to re- torque a payen BK450 which looks to be composite?

And do 1380s have habit of going between 2 & 3 even when both surfaces are nice and true ?
( not a lot of meat there )

Thanks in advance Gray

I always retorque a new hg after one full heat cycle irrespective.

As for the 1380, I wonder if it’s down to the thinner wall between the cylinders even when offset bored??

Let’s put it this way, after the issues I had with a copper hg and swapped over to a Payen hg I still re torqued as I did not want a repeat of the previous issue I had. One full heat cycle and cool down, head retorqued and no further issues.

This was on a 998 but the process is still the same.

And the mechanic is he a mini specialist??

I run up engine with no water for 45/60 seconds, let cool down, retorque/tappets, coolant in, off you go.

Yes, after one or two heat cycles do a proper re-torque.

Doing each head nut in turn in the correct sequence, undo the nut half a turn then re-torque to the correct figure.

Thanks a lot . I know there’s a lot of talk about torque! There down at 42 would you consider that correct on a 1380 not that special fast road motor ?

Sorry didn’t answer your question Mechanic not a Mini specialist.
Think that’s  the form on modern engines with composite head gaskets ?
