Hi, I have a late cooper sport with engine turned alloy dashboard, The laminate has started to blister in places, Is there a replacement laminate?  I have found a company which supplies a sheet of turned alloy 2mm thick, Would this be an option?

Yes, but it certainly has a major impact on Spi / MPI-specific settings

There’s an official Cooper one with a real metal top skin.  The price is frightening!!  Don’t see how your one wouldn’t be possible.  Getting all the panel holes sized and in right place would take some work.

I would think that it could be done. Take the old dash out, remove the glovebox and binacle, and just lay the face of the old dash on the back of the new sheet. Trace VERY careful and cut. The only place where I see an issue is the glovebox as you see the edges and they have to be perfect. On the rest, all the edges/holes are covered by one thing or another.

Thank you for your replies, I've had a response from alloy supplier their circles are 2" so probably not ideal, Who can supply the correct one?

So, were these dash just a vinyl/laminate then? It would be awesome to upgrade that to a true engine turned plate. One disadvantage though would be it will be shiny! The applied style that Rover used looks to have a very matte finish.

I know that 'the little car company' had a few dashboards made. they are not cheap but who knows, maybe this helps.

The laminate you are looking for is 1/4" engine turned alloy. Ideally around 0.2-0.5mm thick.
