After sorting the garage and made space for another mini. I pulled out some old tools and equipment left by my dad after he passed away good few years ago.

I came across a welder. I have never done welding so been looking at a few videos on youtube and gathering information on here.

But there is not much information on my such welder ive had a play about with it and the picture of the welds are my first ever try on a random bit of 1.5mm steel laying about

 

The question is, will this be good enough to do repairs on the mini??

You should be able to do all the welding on a mini with a MIG like that.

I did my first mini with a Clarke 90 which I borrowed from a guy over the road.

I would suggest checking that the wire is clean (not rusty from storage) and also I always find a replacement torch liner and tip worth fitting if the wire feed starts to play up.

Get a decent sized bottle of welding gas, either one from BOC or one of the firns where you buy the bottle and they fill it depending on how much welding you plan to do.

Had exactly the same one as my first welder was a good bit of kit at the time
I used it for at least 10 years loads of welding before I gave it away and its still going now
I would recommend a large bottle and regulator though

Thanks for the replies. I guess this got well used all cleaned up and new wire 0.6mm and new shrouds and tips.
Looking to get Refillable Gas Cylinder Conversion Kit - Argon Mix from weld equip anyone reccomend where to get a large bottle from, im in Stirling Scotland??

Try sgs gas from local motor factors, look on their website for nearest suppliers

I got given one of these. Put rusty wire through it as that was already loaded.
Could not get a good weld until I changed the liner, the rusty wire had ruined it.

Been a great bit of kit with the large spook conversion, and large gas cylinder.

Looking into the bigger bottles small ones are exspensive

Weeally, have a look online if anyone near you are a HobbyWeld dealer. Its a great way to buy Gas, been using them for a while now.

Looks fine to me.

 

As others have said, new wire, liner and possibly tips then a larger bottle of gas and relevant regulator and you will be away.

 

Like I have said to others starting out, focus your practice on joining pieces of metal together rather than runs of weld on a sheet as that will be the welding you will need to do and the technique is quite a bit different.

Check up videos on butt welding, lap welding and plug welding. These will be the skills to master.
