I understood that the Rover 75 uses the MEMS3 but I could be wrong..

Then I read that the MEMS3 was used by MPI's.

That was interpretted as it was used by a MPI mini. But the MEMS3 is used by newer MPI cars. Their lies my mis interpretation.

Sorry.

The Rover 75 uses a VDO SIEMENS system.

MEMS is a MOTOROLA system (if I remember correctly) !

The MPI uses the MEMS2J ECU, wich was used on the early MGFs,  I think it's MOTOROLA too !!??? not sure.

Yes correct MEMS2J for MPi cars and Motorola / Rover system.

The Sykes Pickavant kit you bought was the right set up......

Three main reasons they don’t connect 1) user plugs the lead into the printer port on the older ACR 4 2) car ignition isn’t on 3) damage to lead or more likely wiring to the car diagnostic socket (a club member has this issue with his MPi).

On the ACR you have to use MEMS2J then 1.3 engine and do Service Reset first then do into the components to set the IACV.

The car must be at operating temperature (>88C) otherwise the software prevents auto adjustment.

You CANNOT set up the IACV without diagnostics - pumping the pedal, ignition off on etc is not doing anything that will help you, it’s simply cycling the valve (which sometimes helps where the issue is carbon build up inside).

Check for air leaks around both the inlet manifolds and the hose to the IACV (Spraying WD 40 rather than propane as suggested earlier is safer - if the revs go up you have a leak)

With the current situation it’s difficult as travel is not permitted so getting a loan of a ACR could be tricky.

Thank you Mate for the reply, I’ve just bought a new old stock one of eBay just the body no pods or leads but it’s a start I suppose, have I done the right thing assuming as long as I get the right lead and pod this will work? I don’t need anything special to set it up ?
What is the correct pod ?

Maybe you should start a new thread in the MPI problem forum about the Sykes-Pickavant ACR and how to use it.

Sorry not been on...

Yes Rover 3 pod 3050800 or later or indeed G2 or iMAP pods from Sykes Pickavant/ SP Diagnostics

V3 works in ACR2 later pods  and G2 or iMAP need ACR4 or SMART

lead needs to be 30212400 or J1962 do not use the Rover 30214000 which was designed for the MPi as it doesn’t always work.

see my post http://www.theminifo...e-reader/page-8

Hi chaps finally got a machine that works ?

Here’s a few videos one with engine off and one with engine running, I’ll be honest the reading mean nothing to me whatsoever ? I’m pretty sure I need to setup the idle air control valve (stepper)
Please could someone in the know have a quick look for me would really appreciate it!!!
Thank you

The readings look OK. You need to let it warm up and then see what the stepper value is. With a cool engine and 30-32 steps, the engine may be in a satisfactory range for the stepper. It looks like the lambda sensor is switching. It may take 15 minutes or more to warm up in the drive way.
