I have undone this black ground wire at the wiper/washer stalk. It is in the most advanced position in the picture but I cannot figure out how to reattach it. There is no obvious connection point. I've been told it's the ground for the washer motor. Anybody?

Take the wheel off then take the indicator assembly off. Once off Im sure youll easily find the wires home.

The metal arm is used as a conductor for the push switches on the end of the stalks.

Did you get to the bottom of this? I've got exactly the same problem.
There's two prongs on the end of the stalk which get connected when you push in the washer button on end, so it would make sense if the green/black wire goes all the way up inside and connects to one prong, and the other is connected to the metal stalk itself with the black wire just connected at the bottom. That said, no idea how exactly it's supposed to be connected, is it just pushed up into the same hole as the green/black wire?

Sorted this in the end - you can pull the stalk out of the plastic housing, put the black wire into the hole where the stalk fits then push the stalk back in over the top of it to trap the wire against the metal connector on the base of the stalk
