Hello

1993 L reg Cooper SPI

I have recently replaced the water and air temp sensors as well as the lambda sensor

Inlet manifold taken off and put back to do so

My issue is with the brake servo banjo bolt

It's leaking brake fluid at that point

At the inlet manifold end

From the hose connecting to the banjo bolt

At the banjo bolt

I have also recently had the front wheels off, and taken off / refurbished / replaced almost everything visible (callipers, cv joint, gaiters, swivel hub, tie rods, flexy brake hoses, track rod ends etc)

There is still brake fluid in the system, but it's not been bled yet

I am heading to the back wheels next to replace shoes, springs etc (and the radius arm, with reamer etc)

So, aside from the context, any idea why there's a leak at the banjo bolt?

The hose is on tight

There's the angular "thing" that sits at 90 degrees to strike the manifiold to help secure / tighten things up without them spinning....does that need to be in a particular position?

Thanks in advance

Sorry, are you saying that there is brake fluid leaking out of the very large banjo bolt on the intake manifold?? That is WAY wrong. That pipe is there to provide the brake server with vacuum pressure and should not have any fluid at all in it.

You should remove the brake master and server and have a good look around. I have no idea how fluid could be getting in there unless the master is leaking and filling up the server unit.

It looks like that yes, but since I spotted it, it hasn't stopped raining, so I'm not 100% sure

I don't have a garage

I work on the drive

Very weather (and sunlight) dependant

Frustrating at this time of year

It definitely looks that way

I can't see where else the brake fluid is coming from

Nothing else has been touched

For fluid to come out of there the servo would need to have filled up,this would mean you have topped up the brake fluid 50? times. It is unlikely to be brake fluid unless you had it hanging down whilst connected to the servo.Steve..

Still waiting for the rain to stop

Noah's been busy

I'll try to work out what's coming from where, but ruling things out is helping

Thanks

I did top up the brake fluid but only to refill the master cylinder reservoir in readiness for a brake bleed, then immediately saw the leak and stopped

Yep the brake master cylinder seals have gone. I only found out on mine when the pedal went to the floor O_O  The reservoir was empty and the vac line was full of fluid, cue new master cylinder.

I've already ordered a new one from Mini Spares.
