The metal frame appear very wide at the bottom that screws to the speedo.. Is this normal or is it bent?

Normally it should be straight. It almost looks if they had a 2 clock instrument end bolted in a 3 clock instrument.

The side brackets should be sqared in relation to the bulkhead and dashrail.

Try to swap arround the left and the right bracket. See if that lines up better as there is an offset between bracket and the mounting hole to the cluster.. that will make it more square and you'll gain some width for the cluster mounting.

That is a 2 clock backplate bodged to fit a 3 clock cluster. The bottom arms are further apart for the 3.

Cool cheers. Guess I will just bend it back.
Slightly off topic but do you know the size of the nut that bolts on the back. I only have three. Also need the screws for the side of the cluster.
