So, I have only driven my car a 1000 kilometers and I am starting to hear a noise. ( so i'm not driving it atm)

what happens is;

when its not in gear and I release the clutch you hear a ratteling noise.

you only hear this when the engine is warm.

Also worth a mention; it doesnt go into gear as easy i'd like.

Haynes says: idler gear

I've rebuilt my gearbox, I didnt see any wear on the alluminium where the idler sits and i've checked the tolerance on the idler gear. I think i didnt replace the bearing in the clutch housing but im not sure.

I've added a video of it, its all the way at the bottom of the folowing album; https://myalbum.com/album/233YVEKrGz49

Could it be anything other than the idler gear? I'm gonna take the engine out anyway but would be good to have some spares ready to go in. ( I already have another empty gearbox and all the bearings )

Thanks!

I would say release bearing or the top hat does not have the plastic shim where it is one that should have one.

I'd say drop gears - if they were straight cut then it is a pretty normal noise.

When in neutral with the clutch released they are rotating but not really loaded and can chatter.  Another place this can happen is in the gearbox itself, but you don't tend to hear this as everything is then submerged in oil.

Release bearings tend to be noisy with the clutch pedal depressed when the bearing is then rotating - although if it very loose/knackered it could vibrate.

I would start with the clutch release bearing as other have mentioned. The advantage of that is you can do it with the engine still in.
