Hi Everyone,

I have bought myself another Mini (see non-project Mini Open SPI). This car is a bit of a mix-match of parts from various sources as it was supposed to be cater as a donor before the PO decided to rebuild it to sell it on.

Since the original engine was disassembled and stored in the wet, the PO has fitted an 12A2E Cooper engined which is running strong and smooth and has been MOT (TÜV) approved. Unfortunately there is no sticker on the ECU and I wonder if there is any way to identify the ECU without the sticker. Considering how well the engine runs, I'm fairly confident that this is the correct ECU (MNE101170) but anyway I would rather have it confirmed.

Besides I'm wondering if it is possible to flash one ECU with the software of another. Say a non-Cooper MNE101150 flashed to Cooper MNE101170 software.

Looking forward to your comments.

A diagnostics kit would interrogate the ECU’s ID would it not? You may be able to find out from there

Hi Hungdynasty,

Thank you very much for this tip.

I will see if one of my buddies has the required cable and try the app.

Having visited Hong Kong with my family in 2008, I have some very fond memories of this very special place.

Stay safe ..
