Hi, I'm going to try and remake some rear opening window frame U clips and I need some ideas on what to use for these that I could improvise. Any ideas anyone?

Do you mean the hinges for fixing to the B pillar?

I'd say get a piece of stainless steel the same thickness or slightly thinner and you should be able to bend it to shape. Attaching it to the frame might be the harder job.

Have you thought about using stainless piano hinges?

You will still have the same problem with attaching this to the frame -the only source of nickel plated brass semi-tubular rivets i've been able to find has been in the US -so shipping & export charges make it costly for the amount you need.

This little bit here. I'm trying to think what I may have laying about that I can use. I wish biscuit tins were stainless ha ha

The original use of rivets is what was normal in the '60s when the later style hinges were introduced, if I was bespoke making some now I'd probably design a slightly larger purchase area where the hinge tab meets the frame and bond them on with a modern adhesive ... just a thought?

These might be able to fix it with a bit of fettling.

I don't think they'd need much fixing, they are screwed at the other end. You can mig weld stainless with mild steel wire, it's just not stainless at the weld.

A raid of the kitchen drawe,r or a trip to TKmax or Tescos could get you a stainless donor with a bit of spring in it. If you don't mind the strange looks - measuring spatulas with your verniers.

Also in my experience you're best off drilling any holes where you want them before investing time in cutting & bending.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I was thinking of using a modern adhesive. I'm home now so going have a look about and see what I can make "go missing" ?
