Many years ago we did some modelling of Miglia suspension with a view to optimising the roll centres. Allan Staniforth’s book on suspension was an invaluable source of info and it enabled us to build a very simple model which showed the effects of raising and lowering the front roll centre. We found the exercise worthwhile, but I think that adjustments to the ackerman and reducing the bump-steer were probably more beneficial.

The usual method to adjust bump steer (after the ride height has been set) is to raise or lower the rack ... surely this is not possible in a Mini?

It was done by modifying the steering arms. A bit of measuring of changes in alignment at various steering angles will tell you the what’s needed.

What did you end up doing with the Ackerman angle?
