Thank you Nick,

I already spent some time reading CalverST website, plenty of good info there, but I didn't read the part about the K&N filter.

I however knew about the trick of the holes under the original filter box.

Hmm. I should reconsider my concept then, I didn't have a clue about the siamese prots and there effect on the plate close to the mouth.

Thanks for raising that point. The Mini engine seems to be very unique...

Sorry for going off topic here

Saw these on Facebook earlier the carb inlet might be of some interest.  No idea what they are actually from though. May be some locally produced part.

Noted it's thought these were fitted to some of the Inocenti models.

Anyone ever seen anything similar that faces to the other side ?

Montegos & Maestros  had a plenum & remote filter set up, but sided the same as that Innocenti jobbie - carb was back to front on one of those really long manifolds. The Turbo versions were the right way round, but have the restrictor inside for boost sensing. All likely to be like hen's teeth now.

Rover V8s had some funky inlet plumbing too

I'd have thought other handed would be more common as that'd be towards the front on most BL rwd stuff.

Can't  recall what was on the later O Series reincarnations of the Sherpa van (Freight Rover, LDV 200), but I can only recall them with remote filter cans.

Hi all,

I am currently trying to create a CAD model of a 998 engine. The inlet and exhaust champers were easy to create but i also need to design the cooling champers in the engine head and block. Do you know if there are any available diagrams or pictures that show the cooling champers (paths) in the engine head or block ?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Chris, if you wanted them 3D printed I could draw them up in an hour or two.

I was thinking of doing them as well`as another setup to check.

Which software do you work with?

@Nicklouse: they do look good!

@Luismx123: I think you're right: Link

But very hard to see... But it seems they also took the hot air from the engine bay

My idea at the moment is following:

I have done (very) roughly the carb in grey. Length and dash pot are about right.

The airbox plate will be screwed on the carb with the stub stack / ram pipe

I plan to build some pipe to get fresh air from the grille.

I did two versions of the ram pipe for clearance reasons,but I think the bented one is less efficient in regards of flow due to the different length on top and bottom.

My concern at the moment is if the the box fits in the engine bay, this will tell me how long the ram pipe can be, where I read longer is better for low torque.

David Vizard's report on 'K&N Torque Ram Induction' in MTN 1982 below may also be of interest:-

@mab01uk: thanks for the good piece of info, I read it in the past (or in Vizard's book?) but I didn't think about this system anymore. But it seems to be a pain to tune right...

@Mini Manannan: yes I should have adressed my message to you.
