Hi guys, just thought I'd say hello.

Hope you're not going to flame me too much for this, but...

I'm currently building one of Zcars new Type-R engined Saxo's. As the Saxo's reputation does tend to precede it somewhat I can assure that I don't own any clothing bearing the Burberry brand name and i strongly hold the belief tracksuits should only be worn when undertaking some form of athletic exercise! :D

Few pics of current progress

Anyway we've got a bit of a group buy going for the ETB digital dash so if anyone is interested and would like a bit of a discount on the price then please feel free to stick your name on the list. Clicky

Cheers

Ed

Any pics of the kit??

Looks like there isn't as much rust as in the back of a mini!! :w00t:

What is your final target weight for the car???

Good Luck with the project

Pics of Saxo Demo car

Car in pics above weighs in at around 900kg, but its very much built as a road car. Aiming to get mine to around 750-800kg, bit of a heavyweight compared to Mini's, but light for a modern hot hatch.

Original idea was to supercharge it for around 360-400bhp, but Chris talked me out doing it straight away in favour of getting the car as light as possible first and then seeing if it needs the extra power, which makes sense. Think that speaks well of Zcars when they talk themselves out of work infavour of doing whats best for the customer!

No rust at all really, but then again its only 5 years old, so even though its French you wouldn't expect much.

Would you be interested in bringing this once its completed to Drag Wars and Castle Combe next year? Would love to see how it compares to the bike engined minis.

Yeah I'd be quite happy to bring it along providing its built in time.

Calculations (based on ~290bhp/tonne) suggest it should be capable of high 12's with terminal of between 105-109mph.

i bet it was a bit unnerving cutting it out of a modern car, quite untouched terretory compaired to minis dod you get alot of help from people at Zcars or did you work it out where to cut yourself?

Dan I see you've already posted on SSC, good stuff!

For anyone else who is interested group buy prices are as follows...

Lite + factory upgrade options 2 & 3

Normal price - £440.63
Group Buy - £381.88

Pro

Normal price - £816.63
Group Buy - £653.30

Pretty good savings!

mini93 > Yup it sure felt strange making that first cut into the boot floor, good fun though :withstupid:

Chris at Zcars has been a great help, they'd got some photos from the demo car and I mainly worked off those and when I got a bit stuck i just took a few pics, marked up on them where I thought I should cut and then emailled them over to Zcars for approval.
