For speed there's no replacement for displacement.

why don't you ask the guy that builds them on the website? he's on here as username - 16vmini

do you mean speed or acceleration?
Top Speed is only going to be dependent on the ratio of the gears and FD, as its all down to the Revs of the engine which becomes the revs at the wheels.

How fast you get there is going to be based on the power of the engine combined with the ratio of the gears.

I think its power that "there's no replacement for displacement."

that's true, i guess it's lots to do with torque rather than speed, like some old american muscle cars, some would have a whopping 400+ bhp, and would acclerate to 120mph in the blink of an eye, but not get any faster after that.

tough call!! 2.0 vaux certainly does have bags of torque!! tho the power band of the honda is based in the upper part of the revs and tho it keeps a relatively flat torque curve it doesnt give as much torque as the vaux lump!!

i've been in a bog std cavalier 2.0 16v!! it managed 150mph!! a mini is lighter but with smaller wheels and poorer aerodynamics so you'd lose out there!!

having said that the honda does sound glorious when it comes onto the vtec cam :w00t:

How about the best of both torque and revs world. A honda b20 block with a b16 head on it.

why use the b16 head?? im sure they do a b20 vtec the 2.2 accord lump is defo a 2.2!!

theres also the k20A new civic type R lump than can rev to 9000rpm, it isnt massivly tourquey but when supercharged it definately makes up for it!! 300bhp comes without too many mods i believe!!

bit pricey tho!!

No the 'B20 vtec' is a B20 block with a B series vtec head.

Well yes and no about the head, all the B series heads are interchangable but some are better than others.

i'd like to add that you should get your car handling and breaking before a large engine conversion is undertaken.

or do both at the same time!
