So Dale, do you reckon you still get bump steer then?

The only way that set up could minimise bumpsteer is to change the "instant centre" of the front suspension geometry, as the tie rod inner ends are still in their original positions (attached to the steering rack- also in it's original position), and the steering arms and hubs are also presumably unchanged. A change to the instant centre (in height) would also change the roll centre too. It wouldn't be too difficult to improve on the mini's standard setup, especially once you start lowering it significantly, so I would be surprised if there was no improvement whatsoever.

I have to agree with Pete on this one. Since the subframe change on mine it is soooooo much more confidence inspiring. just as far as I'm concerned an all around improvement. It rides the rough roads much better and seems to offer a lot more feel consistantly (slow, fast, corner entry, mid corner and exit).

And it looks mighty fine too boot!!! :errr: What possible reason could there be not to have one?!? lol

It might well do, no argument with that. However, I don't think it has anything to do with bumpsteer!!

just a thought but maybe the rear suspension geometry is changing too under bump as your using the front subby in the back!! im not disputing the steering at the front getting light tho id like to add!!!! just as the rear suspension sinks the tracking at the back will change too!! am i right in thinking this??

If you use mini based front suspension on the rear, then you will suffer bump steer on the front and rear

V8mini are you using coilovers on the front suited to a lightweight frontend ie lowered spring rates, if not you will be bouncing all over. I can't see what you have done with the front suspension on your website

Cheers

Pic of new style frame fitted in car so you can see how much of the inner wing needs to be removed. I took it all out just so it looks better.

I have got coilovers on the front, and they are a softer spring rate, than the normal rate for the front, although I don’t know if they are soft enough or too soft. Rears are harder but do need more I think.

I don’t have adjustable bottom arms and tie rod on the front yet, but the rears do.

The front toes out at the moment, would this be better parallel of toeing in ??
rears toe in, (which improved loads to my first drive set parallel)

The rear feels quite stable, and the unstability is defiantly coming from the front of the car.

I really don’t think the £1000 price tag is that bad, when you think what you can spend getting a coilover kit, and then adjustable bottom arms and tie bars, and this is a complete subframe / suspension setup designed to benefit a rear engined car.

I don’t think the rear is causing any issues, but i am thinking of looking into using a MGF rear subframe instead at a later date, with the added benefit of rear disks, but that won’t be for a while yet.

Think I will seriously be looking into ordering the Zcars setup for the front in the next couple of weeks, just hope my fuel tank and rad will fit with it.
