Mark: no mate, i just rubbed the bare metal down with some 400 then 800 to get rid of the last bit of laquer, and to get rid of some surface imperfections. I used a reasonably fine file to get the fins flat, degreased the whole thing and gave it a few coats of matt black (i think it was just some generic stuff i bought from Focus!), the finish is as it came out of the can.

Ok cool, thanks..
Im always changing my mine about my mimi, what coulours etc etc. i do my own brain in. :)
So got some mat black, undercoated it already and flated it back.
now ive been doint the black.
Must say, its looking cool. so once that all done, ill do the fins :ermm:
Then ill add some pic :)
Thanks for that stu.
Sorry retro, that i didnt do it the way i was going to do it, as you wrote all the out for me. :D
Your still the man :D

no it keeps it looking nice. give it a gentle wax and see how it comes out.

What does it need protecting from>?.. it's in the engine bay!

because, as ive got vents in my bonnet, when it rains, the water seem it go though the vents onto the rocker cover, which makes to go all crappy.. :D

shouldn't have chosen to go with matt finish paint then really unless it's High temp engine enamel.

Wax it lightly, and see how it looks, you might find it begins to ge shinier.. if it still looks good, give it another light coat and then leave it at that.

Depends, if it's really compressed and manky, then yes.... if it's fairly new and still squishy, no.
