After reading through alot of threads on here i noticed people had trouble with pressure switch adaptors breaking and being a bit of a pig to do. I was thinking of plumbing mine in using a sandwich plate like this...

it has the advantave of maybe have oil temp fitment to. what do you think good or bad idea?

I take it this fits between the block and oil filter??

If so, will you have room between the filter and exhaust?? Ane even if you have, will the temperature of the filter increase due to the proximity to the manifold??

Also, how much are these units?

I made an adapter on the lathe out of brass and fitted to the oil gallery plug in the head (gearchange side) on the 98 R1, not sure if your model year has this as some are cast in without the plug. I know a lot of people have had problems with them breaking but i think it is because they have drilled the hole too big. I have not had any problems at all in 3 years. Mine has a small hole drilled (~2mm). Remember you are only measuring pressure not flow rate so you only need a small hole!!

Cheers
Dale

PS You can see pics of mine in my thread

yeah it fits between the filter and block. I did a bit of research and found that this has been done before on the kit cars although like you say the manifold may well be a little close, could use some heat shield? although doesnt the heat wrap help a fair old amount? im going to meaure it up tomorrow. The part is £18 which i think is fairly reasonable

gonna have a look through your thread now. cant remember seeing the pictures!

im just going to brave the cold now to have a look!!!

I seem to have no drillling at the gear side of the head so the small fitting on the oposite side of the oil channel looks to be where mine is. looks very small.... is it the same as in the later models like pete and ades?

think im going to measure the filter housing tomorrow and go down that route tomorrow, might fot a oil temp sensor too.

Its not two different designs thats whats on the other end of the flexi, the oil presure switch is not suited to high freq vibrations hence mounted on a flexi pipe.
